Chapter 21:
1. Why did Karana leave Rontu in the cave at night? What does this tell you about how she feels about Rontu?
2. How did she occupy herself while hiding out in the cave? Why do you think she does that?
3. What events happened when the girl came to the cave? Would you have reacted the same or differently? Why?
4. Why did Karana leave the cave and go to the west part of the island? What did Karana find when she returned to the cave? What do you think that meant?
Chapter 22:
5. Who is Tutok, and what game did Karana play with
her? What do you think these phrases mean? "Mah-nay" "Pah-say-no"
6. Why do you think Karana revealed her secret name to
Tutok? What gift did Karana make for Tutok? Why did Tutok leave and not return?
Chapter 23
7. What did Karana find after the Aleut hunters had
left the island? What name did she give to the otter, and what does
the name mean? Why did the otter leave the pool where Karana had
cared for it?
8. How do you think Karana felt about Tutok and the
end of this chapter?
#1 Karana left Rontu in the cave at night because she was afraid that the Aleuts had there dogs and the dogs were going to sniff where they were and find them in the cave. This tells me that Karana really cares about Rontu and doesn't want Rontu to be taken away or get injured.
ReplyDelete#3 first they heard foot steps and it freaked them out and i probably would of got a little scared like they did but they were holding a skirt up to the sunlight and they heard someone then they started to speak and the words sounded different because she has not spoke to anyone for a long time.
ReplyDelete#6 I think Karana told Tutok because she was lonely and she was friends with her. Karana made Tutok dinner and circlet for her hair. Totok did not return because the Aleut was not there anymore
ReplyDeleteYa, I agree with Olivia that Karana probably told Tuko her secret name because she was lonely and maybe because Tuko was coming back everyday and they were getting more close as they spent more time together.

ReplyDeleteI think Karana trusted Tutok at the end and felt sad that she left, because she got to know her and even though Tutoks was the enemy the became good friends. I really was touched when Tutok and Karana gave gift to each other. In the book it said that Rontu knew her but I don't thick he did.
# 5 Tutok is the girl she met and the game she played was learning each others language. I think "Mah-nay" Karana said to Rontu. Then "Pah-say-no" Tutok said to Karana to learn each others language.
ReplyDelete#2 she digs holes in the dirt and put seeds in the ground.
ReplyDeleteyou didn't answer the full question like why do you think she was doing it

ReplyDeleteDolphins Group - I decided just to create a new blog for the last 5 chapters rather than add questions via comment. The address is Dolphinslast5.blogspot.com - there are 7 questions, so everyone should be able to answer a question before we meet next Tuesday. Let me know if you have questions - jackirie@icloud.com
